Sinopsis

This is the story of Val, seen through the eyes of her daughter, Clare. After a tragic loss in the family, Val leaves her children behind in order to explore the colombian jungle and find herself as a woman without the restrainds of being it. With the directing of this movie where the jungle is not an scenario but a character, Clare Wieskopf manages to get rid of the scars of a child that could not understand what was her mother looking for when she left her, being only an eleven year old child. Thirty years later, and pregnant, Clare decides to confront her mother as a way to understand her and to be able to define her own maternity in less conventional terms. Together they will begin a journey into the deepths of their relationship, which will lead the to explore the borders between resposabilty and guilt free pleasure. What does it mean to be a good mother?

Clare Weiskopf

Director, producer and journalist. For ten years she has worked on various topics, from the colombian armed conflicts as well as how sexual violence works as a war weapon and the cumbia diaspora presented to the world. Her debut feature film, Amazona, premiered at the IDFA and won the publics award at FICCI (Cartagena), the Andriy Mtrosov award in Docudays Ua (Ukraine) and it was the oppening movie at DocsBarcelona. Wiskopf has won the Premio Nacional de Periodismo Simón Bolívar in two ocations and it was selected to compete at the IDFA Academy and Dok.Incubator. Her work has received the IDFA Berta Fund, the Tribeca Film Institute Fund and the Proimágenes FDC. As a director she has worked for Colombia Bio of Colciencias, RCN, and Señal Colombia. Her new project, Aurora, won the FDC-Proimágenes. Clare is cofounder and creative produce in Casatarántula.
