Fabián, a haunted law student, commits a double murder. Joaquín, head of its family, is unjustly accused and is, subsecuently, imprisoned. There, he will go in an spiritual journey while his wife and two children are suffering the abandoment. Fabián, although scot-free, is a wreck withing his freedom, battling to break the chains he has build around himself. An adaptation from Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky, transposed to the sunny fields and streets of the Phillipines. It is also and intimate drama and a humanist epic. A tale of violence and hatred, love and fear, in charge of the most visionaries filmmakers of our time.

Lav Diaz

Datu Paglas, 1958. Independent filmmaker. He is known as one of most important slow cinema members, having filmed some of the most long narrative films to date. He has won several international prizes such as best movie award at the Singapur Film Festival, the Gawad Urian in 2002 and the jury prize for best casting at the Cinemanila Film Festival, amongst others. His movies confront many of the political and social problems that affect the Philippines nowadays. His movie, Kagadanan sa Banwaan ning mga Engkanto, won the Leone d'Oro with a special mention. His movie, Melancholia, won the Orizzonti Gran Priz at the Venice Filt Festival in 2008. En 2011 he joined the International Cinema Foundation director's board. Diaz has an economy degree by the Notredame University of the Cotabato city. He was granted the Guggenheim Fellowship in 2011, the Prince Claus from The Netherlands prize and the Radcliffe Fellowship from Harvard University from 2016 to 2017.
