PLOT:

The Palace follows the everyday life of seventeen women who live together in a large house for financial and emotional reasons. They help each other with their daily chores and train themselves for various trades in order to obtain a job. The majority of these women will become nannies, domestic workers and private nurses for senior patients. A film that confronts us in a franc and direct manner with the subject of servitude.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

"When I learned about the house I was interested in drama. I wanted to see how these women could manage living together under difficult circumstances. I found a house that was much quieter than I envisioned. Throughout the filming process we were careful to film the everyday and the training process most of the women take to get a job. It became a kind of journalistic film. While we where trying to capture the essence of the place, our presence altered the functioning of the space to degrees that we could not assess. Also, the film is not really about characters, but about a conglomeration of bodies interacting in space."
